Zaxby's

Zaxby’s is a fast-food restaurant chain that operates primarily in the Southern and Midwestern United States and was founded by Zach McLeroy, Tony Townley and Jeff Rakel. The first location opened on February 22, 1990, in Statesboro, Georgia.

Its menu includes chicken sandwiches, wings and fingers, salads featuring Zax Sauce®, Zalads®, chicken nuggets (made from real USDA-inspected white meat), crinkle fries made with Sea Salt & Vinegar or Ranch seasoning packs, hand-scooped ice cream treats including Freezy Pops® (made with soft serve ice cream), shakes made with 100% Hershey’s chocolate syrup or made from fresh fruits like strawberries & bananas.

In late March 2016, it was voted the “Great Place to Work Award” by the Center for Creative Leadership at Austin Peay State University. The Great Place to Work Award ultimately leads to an invitation-only career fair.

Its official mascot is a cat named PeeDee with a striped tail. He appears in all of their advertising and packaging artwork (sometimes in competition with Krabby Patty’s mascot Mr Krabs) as well as while they are performing “skateboarding” routines during one of their TV commercials.

On September 27, 2011, it announced its offer to purchase Buffalo Wild Wings for $242 million. The merger was completed on December 2, 2011.

In response to an advertisement created by Buffalo Wild Wings, Zaxby’s released a Twitter ad that mocked its rival for being more expensive and not having chicken fingers. Its commercial parodied the original ad by highlighting how its menu items are better than the competition. The essence of Canada created the ad, the firm behind a series of controversial advertisements that parodied the Indianhemadana poster.

On February 25, 2017, Zaxby’s opened its 700th restaurant in Franklin Park Mall, Carmel. It had opened in California, Alabama and Illinois before opening in Indiana in November 2016.

In October 2017, it introduced its take on the Loaded Grilled Cheese to its menu. The Loaded Grilled Cheese is a hamburger topped with cheese sauce, bacon and crinkle fries. Like this page on Facebook, for additional information.
