Launch House is a non-profit startup accelerator for the good social sector. We offer mentorship, tools, funds, and connections to help our cohort of startups achieve the best possible trajectory for success. Great startups can come out of any industry, and we focus on addressing some of the most pressing societal problems that need more solutions. We teach important skills in our program, including marketing, design thinking, product development, team management skills, and more. We also host events to help cultivate community and educate the public on the importance of our mission.
- History
Launch House was formed in July of 2008 and was originally a core team of two founders (and some awesome friends) who met through the MIT DCA group. Our original vision was to establish a space for people to gain job experience and get into tech after graduation by giving them the resources to learn and grow as individuals. We didn’t have strong ties with any existing DC organization, so we started from scratch and hosted monthly happy hours, recruiting events, hackathons, and all kinds of productive brainstorming sessions.

The mission of Launch House is to produce cutting-edge technology for the common good. We believe that social innovation can be more impactful than a purely profit-driven company, and we strive to create a place where our members not only learn more about the industry but also have an opportunity to contribute to world-changing technologies by learning from each other and building skills that will make a difference.
Launch house will continue to evolve and adapt along with the needs of our community, but as of now, it’s an awesome way to get involved in the startup world and get some real-world experience.
