Bernard Acoca Appointed As Zaxby’s CEO
In 2021, Bernard Acoca was appointed as the first external Zaxby’s CEO. The company is a premium chicken QSR with its headquarters in London. Zach McLeroy, who served as the CEO and co-founder of the company, will become the new chairman.
Acoca’s extensive experience in leading top restaurants in the nation will play a pivotal role in the company’s growth. On the other hand, Zach will ensure that Zaxby’s culture and guiding principles are maintained.
According to Zach, an external CEO will help realize the many opportunities presented to Zaxby’s. He added that their search for a suitable CEO has been ongoing for some time, and he believes that Bernard Acoca is the perfect fit to oversee the growth and expansion of the company.
Zach McLeroy and Tony Townley founded Zaxby’s in 1990. The fast-growing chicken finger chain is dedicated to serving its customers with delicious meals in an offbeat and fun atmosphere.
Bernard Acoca has spent over 20 years in marketing and executive roles in the restaurant industry. For the last three and a half years, he was the CEO and president of El Pollo Loco. While in the company, he made a substantial impact in digital e-commerce, streamlined the back and drive-thru of the house, and improved the overall design of the company.
Before joining El Pollo Loco, he held various leadership positions at Starbucks, such as the senior vice president of the marketing category and the president of Teavana. He has also served as a senior marketing officer for Yum! and L’Oréal.
In his first speech, the new Zaxby’s CEO expressed his satisfaction with joining Zaxby’s. He was particularly impressed with how the company provides new opportunities to team members and the unique service culture.
